Resilient

September 2018 caught FarMor Group Inc. (FGI) putting the final touches on its 18th book, Resilient by Suzanne Leigh.

Those who publish with FarMor know that our mandated time to release a book is 12 to 15 months.

Last week, while celebrating the anniversary of our first book (Living Testimonies published Aug. 30, 2005), Suzanne reminded us that we accepted her manuscript on Aug. 30, 2017.

I didn’t remember that…but I do remember there was a slight delay signing the contract with Suzanne the next month…due to Hurricane Irma.

How many know, “Delay is not denial?”

Fast forward to September 2018 when Hurricane Florence hit the Carolinas. I was sitting in the living room, totally oblivious to the television, when my eyes caught a glimpse of the Angel Oak tree.

For those who don’t know, Angel Oak graces the cover of Suzanne’s book. It was this age-old tree that she wanted on the front because it is the epitome of “Resilient“:

1. (of a person or animal) able to withstand or recover quickly from difficult conditions.

2. (of a substance or object) able to recoil or spring back into shape after bending, stretching, or being compressed.

So, imagine my surprise when I heard the voice of Dennis Haysbert speaking of Angel Oak in the Allstate commercial and praising the Carolinas for their resilience!

I jumped off the sofa and grabbed my phone to contact Suzanne. Look how God confirmed that we were right on track to “deliver” what He birth in her.

Two months later, on Nov. 18, we celebrated the pre-release of her book (a few days shy of her 51st birthday).

Then on December 21st, we released her memoir–the same month she graduated with her AA degree from Seminole State College after a 21-year sabbatical (with one class remaining).

Now, Resilient author Suzanne Leigh is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida.

The Bible tells us in Psalm 1:1-3

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
