Christ, My Firm Foundation

Greetings everyone,

It has been a while, but thank God I’m still here. He is not through with me yet!

For those who don’t know…my song in this season is “Firm Foundation” by Maverick City (Chandler Moore & Cody Carnes). From the time I heard it in 2022, this song has been ministering to me, reminding me to keep the faith. “I won’t be going under!” Thank You Jesus!!

Well this morning, after reading the devotional from “Our Daily Bread,” I did as I do, most times, I read the entire text associated with the message. Today’s text is Luke 6.

I read the different sections in the King James Version…from ‘Twelve Apostles Chosen’ to ‘Good and Bad Fruit’ and then I arrived at the last section: Building on a Firm Foundation! Glory be to God!!!

Let me remind you that the song is still playing from my television as I read the instruction manual behind the lyrics!

Here is the text from the New King James Version (NKJV):

Build on the Rock

46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? 47 Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. 49 But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”

May we “be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves,” according to James 1:22.

On Christ the Solid Rock I stand! All other ground is sinking sand!!

CHRIST Is the Way!

Greetings,

Bless God on this #NoMovement Monday🤣 I am venturing to do something (i.e., shred and sort these piles of paper) that I put off last year! #clutterfree in 2023!!

But before I could begin, I heard my mom humming a familiar tune as she was outside (doing what she does). So I pulled up the song on Youtube as I was pushing my Swiffer through the house!!

Talk about a “new” year song:

“Now we’re here (in 2023)
Looking back on where we’ve come from
Because of You and nothing we’ve done
To deserve the love and mercy You’ve shown
But your grace was strong enough to pick us up

And You made a way
When our backs were
And it looked as if it was over
Lord, You made a way
And we’re standing here
Only because You made a way”!!!

Jesus Christ, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” – John 14:6

Picking Up the Pieces

Pastor Riva (Tims) Watkins published a book called When It All Falls Apart. I was reminded of this book early this morning as I faced something that I had put off doing for over a week.

You see, there’s a room in our home known as “the storage room,” where family belongings are stored as we undergo various family transitions.

Well about a week ago, I went into this room to grab something and in doing so, it caused a ripple effect.

Pulling one item from the top caused a volcanic eruption below, with bags of shoes, jewelry, hair accessories, not to mention folders with paper falling to the floor in one huge pile.

In the midst of trying to meet several deadlines, I did what any ‘normal’ person would do, I shook my head and shut the door! ‘My nerves’ couldn’t handle it, not right now!

“I’ll deal with it later,” I said. Later turned into several days then a week!

Meanwhile, I would open the door to pull what I needed and then close the door to do what those who know me often hear me say, “Keep it moving!”

But today (10.18.2022), I faced the giant because for me to tell my son to clean his room will be quite frankly, hypocritical!!

So I started pulling bags and other items off the floor…putting them in the hallway and other stuff in my son’s room, since he’s at school.

To tackle the confusion and gain control of the situation, I had to alleviate the smaller items that were hindering me from reaching the bigger items that needed re-adjusting.

Once I did that, I was able to restore the room within an hour…repacking, shifting and removing several items that needed to be released long ago!

Now, there’s still more to be done as I write this blog, but it made me think about “when it all falls apart!”

It is easy not to deal with the problem, or the issue at hand, and simply close the door and choose to deal with “it” later.

So as I wait for Holy Spirit to give me a scripture for this message…which I received as I was editing this blog (THANK YOU HOLY SPIRIT)….

Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us… Hebrews 12:1 (KJV)

New Living Translation (NLT) says, And let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up.

So whatever is the source of you closing the door and not wanting to deal with the “issues” on the other side, today is the day…now is the time!!!

Father God wants us to be FREE of fear, unforgiveness, shackles from our past… all of it!!!!

As we pick up the pieces, let us (look) unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. (verses 2-3, KJV)

I love how the LORD speaks through our mess and turn it into a message!!!

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!! GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE!
