It’s OK to REST!

Greetings,

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve you this year, but our offices are now closed!”

That message has been playing in my head for the past two weeks as I waited patiently to officially record it on our business answering service!!!!! Tonight, I was able to do just that…announcing the closing of FarMor Group Inc. until January 5th!!!

WOW! This year has been filled with many ups and downs, BUT in the words of one of my favorite songs, “I Won’t Complain!” I’ve learned many lessons in 2021, and one was to “Grow in Grace!” AMEN!

A few weeks ago, I was seeking the LORD about this upcoming sabbatical and wondering why my body felt like it needed rest (more than ever). Then the Holy Spirit said to reflect over the year…so I did!

In 2021, my publishing company released four books:

  • The hardcover of In Light of the Cross by William H. Gottfried in March
  • Two novels, Dreams and Visions 2 by Lynn Gayle in May and InHERitance by Sherilee Mandi in August
  • A memoir, Live…But LIVE! by Cynthia Hughes, in October

In addition, we edited manuscripts for other clients, including a 330-page autobiography.

On the recording side, we took two songwriters into the studio and finalized one Single, which will be released (God willing) on 2.11.2022!

The for-profit partnered with the nonprofit, FarMor Entertainment, to host seven “Heart of Worship” dinner shows this year, incorporating the literary arts with the performing arts in the beautiful CB Bistro (a fairly new establishment located in the heart of Orlando). The LAST dinner show takes place this Sunday–a Christmas gala with the theme, “I Will Not Be Silent.”

But that’s not all!! FarMor Entertainment also partnered with Talking with ShaniqueTM to host a 2-day “RISE UP: Crown of Beauty” conference in the Crowne Plaza Orlando Downtown in June!!!

On a personal note, we lost several loved ones this year, more than any other year! Starting in July with the homegoing of a partner and friend, Kevin Young, who supported FarMor two weeks earlier at the conference.

Then my stepdad, Lascelles Shand (who I called Uncle Shand) died August 1st, and the next day, I learned that Rev. Kenneth T. Glover had passed away. “Rev.” served as FGI’s vice president for several years as well as a mentor and the sound engineer of the nonprofit events for over 10 years!

A month later, while visiting author Cynthia Hughes in South Carolina, her mom (Leila Mae Hughes), passed away that same weekend, and four of us drove the following weekend from Orlando to SC for her homegoing service. A month later, Ms. Cynthia’s first son, Albert (who had helped my family at the beginning of the year deal with a mold issue at home), passed away a few days shy of his 40th birthday.

During the time of his funeral, I flew to Colorado to help my firstborn pack up and move six states away, which was a two-day adventure in itself. I returned a week later, only to host a dinner show that Sunday! Then two days ago, my sister, Ollie Jones (a.k.a. Sis. Ann) transitioned on to glory!! A prayer warrior who was part of the “Glory Carriers” Prayer Team (see below) was a faithful supporter of FarMor Entertainment, for which she sowed money, time and talent–video recording several of our events.

WOW! There was so much more in-between, including a six-episode taping of “Zoom for Improvement series” (written by Bryan Cobaris of Faithful FEW Inc.) in which I played the “peacekeeper” role of Mother Taffy!!

Truly I understand why I’m tired!

During a recent taping of the “Glory Carriers” Bible Study & Prayer that I took part in mostly every Tuesday of this year on Arise to Glow TV, I received an acronym during the show for R.E.S.T. (Releasing Everything at the Savior’s Throne)!! AMEN!

For the next two weeks, that is exactly what I plan to do as I rest, recoup, regroup and prepare for a wonderful 2022!

On that note, I want to wish each of you a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a healthy, happy, joyous and prosperous New Year!!

This is Suzette Farquharson-Morgan….author, editor, publisher, event planner, producer, manager, actor, TV host, minister…..signing off!!!

God bless!

Touched by an Angel…on Angel Road!

Bless God from whom all blessings flow.

Last Wednesday…in the midst of my vacation…I received a call from my client and long-time friend, Cynthia Hughes, author of Hoop in the Bathroom; Can I Be President of the United States at 8?; and her latest release, Live…But LIVE!

When I answered my phone, I kindly reminded Ms. Cynthia that “I am on VACATION” (after releasing two books the previous week and hosting my nonprofit’s “Heart of Worship: But LIVE!” dinner show featuring her new memoir that Sunday).

Ms. Cynth informed me that, first of all, I cannot take vacation from her since she is family!! Secondly, the Muscadine Festival, which I originally had on my calendar for Sept. 25 (but she thought was in October) was indeed that upcoming weekend. So she said, “When you come…,” what to bring. I was thinking, Ms. Cynthia has lost her mind. Here it is Wednesday, and the event is two days away in South Carolina. Nonetheless, on my way home, the Holy Spirit gave me the “green light” to search for train and airline schedules and fares.

That Thursday evening, my mom and I were on our way to Columbia, SC on Amtrak’s 92 Silver Star. We arrived early Friday morning and was greeted by Ms. Cynthia and her brother, Jay (our designated driver for the weekend). We traveled to Chester, with me soundly asleep in the back seat, arriving at our destination about an hour later. After a refreshing shower and a nice nap, we spent the day enjoying the country with my client and her mom, Mrs. Leila Hughes. {OMGoodness! What a character!! I had met her a few years ago when she visited Orlando but this was my mom’s first time meeting her.}

That day, we went to the ever popular Food Lion (a former grocery store in Orlando) of which I took a picture. While Ms. Cynth went inside to grab some candies for the vendor table on Saturday, I stayed in the vehicle with her mom and mine. I showed Momma Hughes pictures of Ms. Cynthia from the dinner show, and she spoke blessings over her daughter’s books…that they would “reach people.”

Then we came home and hung out until Ms. Cynthia finished the baked & smothered turkey drumsticks; mashed potatoes, of which I peeled the potatoes :-); corn on the cob; collard greens (YES LORD!); and a salad, for which Momma Hughes diced the onions & tomatoes. What a way to spend Day 1 in Chester!

After dinner, we walked up and down four times on Angel Road, which equates to a mile, while connecting on the prayer line with Prophetess Nadine for what was her first Friday night prayer. Finishing up our walk, my mom, Ms. Cynthia and I joined Momma Hughes inside at the entrance where the four of us sat and listened as Prophetess Nadine spoke briefly on the topic, “Occupy Till He Comes!” Then prayer began with each person praying for families, the young people, our leaders and the body of Believers before ending with a prayer of Thanksgiving from Momma Hughes.

After getting off the line, I spent some time going through one album with Momma as I rolled my hair with a pack of her sponge rollers. When I finished, she looked at me and said, “Baby, you did that quick and you didn’t even look in the mirror!” We laughed and continued laughing as she joked about my mom not staying still. (Mom was in the kitchen mopping and straightening up while we were relaxing).

Then we wrapped up for the night, preparing for the big day ahead. Our plan was to leave out at 7 a.m. for the festival in Denmark, SC (Bamberg County), which was nearly a two-hour drive. However, God’s ways and thoughts are higher than ours.

The next morning, as everyone was dressed, getting ready for breakfast with 30-minutes to spare before Bro. Jay arrived, Momma Hughes became nonresponsive around 6:30 a.m. After 911 was called, CPR performed by Ms. Cynthia and paramedics arrived, Momma was rushed to Chester hospital before being airlifted to Charlotte, North Carolina. In “just one moment,” everything had shifted!

The family rushed to be by Mother Hughes’ side while my mom and I (at the urging of Ms. Cynthia) proceeded with Bro. Jay and her son, El-Zuriel, to the festival, which was being hosted for the first time by their cousin, Yvette. With a few books sold and great contacts made, we were ready to leave. We felt that we (especially her brother) needed to be at the hospital.

So we drove from Denmark, SC, to Charlotte, NC (which was another two hours) and was greeted at Emergency by other siblings, including “The Baby” (Bro. Terry) and Bro. Marvin (who God had strategically brought from Greenwood, SC to Chester that Friday). Our God is awesome!!!

Hours earlier, the doctor has stated that with the unsuccessful removal of the blood clot on the brain, there was basically nothing else he could do!! BUT FATHER YAHVEH!! Mother Hughes was moved to a bed on the 9th floor (room #9216) where she was surrounded by family.

When we arrived home that evening on Angel Road (leaving Bro. Marvin on duty with Mom until their sister, Pradensia, arrived), I went into the room that my mom and I were staying in and fell to my knees. I had questions and I needed answers!! Why LORD? Why did this happen on my watch? Was it something we had done by coming (YES, the enemy had dropped these negative thoughts in our minds)?

Then the Holy Spirit spoke softly to me, “You were ‘Touched by an Angel…on Angel Road‘!” Oh my goodness, tears flowed as I began to sing, “Oh the blood that gives me strength from day to day, it will never lose its power. For it reaches to the highest mountain and it flows to the lowest valley. Oh the blood….” After I finished, I rushed to the bathroom to quickly wash my face to avoid sharing what the Lord had revealed.

The next day, we learned that Mother Hughes had “slipped away” between 7-7:15 a.m. as her daughter, Pradensia, was in the restroom.

Later that day, my mom and I flew home to Orlando on Silver Airways as Mother Leila Mae Hughes (who I learned from her grandson at the hospital had named Angel Road) had flown home to Glory on 9.26.21 at the age of 92!!!!

1.
Some glad morning when this life is o’er,
I’ll fly away;
To a home on God’s celestial shore,
I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away).

Chorus
I’ll fly away, Oh Glory
I’ll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I’ll fly away (I’ll fly away).

Season of Manifestation!

Greetings everyone,

In 2008, God instructed author & publisher Suzette Farquharson-Morgan to host a one-year anniversary of her company’s second book, Honey for the Soul: This Is the Season by Anita B. Williams (released 7.7.07).

With little money of her own, she said “yes” and embarked on this endeavor to host a dinner show at the Maitland Civic Center (which she was introduced to her by friend and wedding coordinator Thelma Brathwaite).

Since #8 represents new beginnings, the date was set for Friday, August 8, 2008, with the theme, “This Is Your Season”!

Connecting with various Central Florida artists (singers, dancers, poets & spoken word artists) whom the LORD had placed in her path… even in her own home, this stage show became the start of something new.

That night, the late Kenneth T. Glover said that this event was well needed and should be held each year.

God had a bigger plan…one in which FarMor Entertainment would host three events per year (in February, July and November)…which it did faithfully for 10 years.

The nonprofit, which was formed in April 2009, received its 501c3 tax-exempt status on March 10, 2010.

Today, FarMor Entertainment celebrates 13 years since conception, giving God thanks for this season of manifestation!!!

Waiting in earnest anticipation with great expectation, it continues…as a ministry…to give hope and encouragement through the literary and performing arts!!!

My Alabaster Box

AMEN! GLORY TO GOD!!

It’s a #WonderfulWednesday!!! I woke up (bless God) to my mind racing a mile a minute! With the #RiseUp conference a month away; another book (InHERitance by Sherilee Mandi) to be released in June; and many events happening along the way, I just laid still, trying to #focus (Fix Our Cerebrum Upon the Savior).

God knew I needed to read today’s #OurDailyBread… “She Did What She Could” by Elisa Morgan, which would lead me to this ‘theme’ song, “Alabaster Box” by CeCe Winans.

Can I tell you, ‘God knows what you need before you need it’? GLORY BE TO GOD!!”

And though she spoke no words, everything she said was heard!!! {That part!!}

I needed to be reminded why I praise Him so…

“You weren’t there” (the Sunday morning He called me on my way to Tangelo Baptist).

“You did not feel what I felt when He wrapped His loving arms around me”! YES LORD!

“You don’t know the cost of the oil in my #AlabasterBox!”

That’s why I am excited, that God has called me, once again, to host a RISE UP conference in the month of June. Through a collaboration between my nonprofit organization (FarMor Entertainment) and Talking with Shanique™, you do NOT want to miss the two-day Crown of Beauty Conference on June 25-26 in the beautiful Grand Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Hotel (Downtown Orlando)! Visit farmorentertainment.org to RSVP, Sponsor or Donate!!

When God does it, He does it well. (As I wrote these words, Holy Spirit told me to put the Scripture for the event. Little did I know that the actual word “crown” was included in the New Living Translation)!!

To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory.” – Isaiah 61:3 (NLT)

My God is awesome!!

“I can’t forget the way life used to be
‘Cause I was a prisoner to the sin that had me bound
And I spent my days, poured my life without measure
Into a little treasure box I thought I found
Until the day when Jesus came to me
And healed my soul with the wonder of His touch
So now I’m giving back to Him
All the praise He’s worthy of
I’ve been forgiven and that’s why
I love Him so much

So I want to pour my praise on Him like oil
From Mary’s ‘Alabaster Box’ “

THANK YOU JESUS!!!
